At long last, it’s that time….. Hockey has broken out, ice is forming over the warm summer weather and the loud sounds of crash, thud, and the sharp sounds of the hockey puck hitting the arena glass can be heard. Oh, not so much you say. Tell that to the CBJ prospects who are in the midst of their prospects tourney in Traverse City, in that state up north. The baby CBJers are leading their division with a 2-0 record and are showing both rust and promise much as expected.
Due to the nature of the combatants, no live coverage is coming from TC. But Rob Mixer [CBJ] and CBJ Prospects [Union Blue] are flowing information back to Blue Jacket fans. In the two games played so far, the Baby Jackets have fallen behind and then roared back to win. Oscar Dansh received accolades for his goal tending Saturday night against the Baby Red Wings, but perhaps the biggest surprise/non surprise is Marko Dano. He’s another small forward, and has been a bit overlooked by the 2 other 2013 first round pick’s press coverage. But, Marko has been playing in the men’s KHL league for 2 years. So he knows pro hockey. so he knows competition, so he knows what he has to do to win. With 3 goals in 2 games, he has shown that he has pulled his skates on and is ready to play. An asset ready to happen.
Sonny Milano was injured in game 1 and expected to be out for 6-8 weeks. [fractures on his facial area]
The prospects play a game Monday and the Tournament championship Tuesday. Then back to Columbus for……… The opening of the Blue Jackets training camp.
Of course Ryan Johansen is still not signed. Bets are he will be signed. BUT– and I hope I’m wrong—- I’m afraid this summer long impasse will result it a poor season for the youngster.
But it is now “HOCKEY TIME”
