In the annals of human history, there have been many self proclaimed leaders/rulers of groups. There have also been many who have been recognized by the populace as the leader and been elevated to that position. In our own country, even our first president, George Washington was just such a man. The old George Washington saying goes, “First in War, First in Peace, and First in the Hearts of His Countrymen“. In our own Blue Jackets team, Brandon Dubinsky has become such a man.
In just this past week, “Dubi” has been to war, aka his retaliation skirmish after a hard hit. He has been respected in peace, aka his comments with the press. And last night putting the team on his shoulders and scoring a short handed goal [3 vs 4] he certainly became first in the hearts of his countryman.
The Blue Jacket fans have certainly awarded him a “C” for his contributions and his evident respect in “the room”. While it remains to be seen if he will officially be awarded the Blue Jackets “C”, he is certainly wearing a phantom “C” now.
